Night Snooking in FL

So if you don't know me already you need to know that I am an extremely avid fisher person, so whenever I have a chance I pick up my fly rod and am off to the angling races. Florida is no exception - actually FL is one of my favorite places to fish cause salt water fishing can sometimes be a little bit like a melting pot, you never know what you might get. Anyhow, on my fishing "to-do" list for some time now is to go Snook fishing, which can only be done in the dark of night (Snook only feed at night) which makes fishing that much more challenging, tying knots in the dark, standing on your fly line, catching your mate instead of the fish, and did I mention casting to the feeding fish and not catching the dock they are under ? Well FL 2009 I finally made it out to do some snook fishing with my Dad and vola !! - what a great time and it now going to be moved from my fishing "to-do" list to the fishing"must do again" list !!

So as many of you fellow Canadians know we can have some pretty nasty winter months of weather and I don't know about the rest of you but by the time that February roles around I am so vitamin D deprived that I have to go sound a least for a few days. So once again I headed to sunny Siesta Key, Fl for a week of sun, beach, fishing and fun. The weather could not have been better, it was 85+ and sunny everyday - no complaints here !!

I am an Auntie !!

So one of the great things that happened at the beginning of this year was that my one and only sister gave birth to a baby boy ! Mr. Jack Charles Rightmyer - a beautiful 8 LB healthy boy. I am now a proud auntie and cannot wait until he grows a little bit bigger and my Dad and I can teach him our fly fishing ways.

New Car and His Expensive Winter tires...

So fall of 2007 I ended up getting myself a new car - a MINI Cooper, his name is Eddy (go ahead and make fun but all my cars end up with names) and I love him.

He was great in the winter of 2007 given that he still had his factory tires, however this winter when the white stuff arrived was a whole different story. It was like driving a car on skies, terrifying !!

So off I went to do my tire shopping, what a headache. As it turned out I ended up at BMW cause did you know that there are very few manufacturers that actually make tires for the mini cooper ? Well turns out that because of this I ended up paying through the roof for Eddy's new rubber shoes - this was the day that I met Mr Pirelli, ever met him ?

Blogger Blogger Blogger - I have not Blogged in So long, I am so sorry !

Okay, so I have not been back to my blog site in a really long time. Actually since 2006, which is when I was working at my last job. Well I am finally back and am going to be doing my best to keep my blog updated. Now that winter is over I should be back up to speed with some fun spring and summer memories of 2009 !

"The Departed" (so excited to see this flick !)

I am so excited to go and see The Departed next week with my buddy Colin. I had to post this from YouTube simply because the preview looks amazing, the movie has rave reviews and most importantly towards the end of the preview it is dubbed to Comfortably Numb, Pink Floyd which is my all time favorite band. Can't wait till monday !!

Thomas got new shoes today !!!

Today was a very earlier rainy morning but it was all worth it once I got to see Thomas (my Mazda Protege 5) get outfitted with his new shoes. After much shopping around, that resulted in meeting some very shady mechanics, but thanks to many of my male friends I was able to buy new tires (affordable and practical) for my car this morning. I knew it was only a matter of time before I was going to have to make the purchase (50K km), but now that winter is well on its way it was Thomas's turn for a little pampering. Hopefully they will last me a good few years. This is the first set of tires that I had to buy since I drove him off the lot in 2003, I learned a lot and ended up getting in touch with some old friends. All in all a good experience and I think that Thomas is happy with his new gear !!! Thanks to my friends, who all know that I am such a "girl" when it comes to car issues.

Barbaro - What a Trooper !!!

As you may or may not know, horses are my real passion in life. I have been around them, worked with them, trained them and loved them my whole life. Even though I am not a big fan of horse racing I always follow the Triple Crown every year. In this year's second jewel of the crown there was a horrible accident when Barbaro, the long shot favorite broke his lower hide leg when he charged out of the starting gate. I have been following his story all summer long and I am happy to say that he is doing better and better as time goes by. Here is the latest article posted today on the web about his progress. He is a beautiful stong stallion and I pray with all my hearts goodness that he lives a long and happy life and thankfully he will never see another race track.

Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro's right hind leg has a new cast, a new shoe and is healing well, while his left rear hoof is "gradually" improving from laminitis.
The cast was changed for the first time in six weeks, and Dr. Dean Richardson said Tuesday he was "pleased" with the progress in the leg that was shattered when Barbaro took a horrible misstep at the start of the Preakness on May 20.
Barbaro's left hind foot, which had laminitis, continues its slow healing process.
"There is good growth along the quarters [closer to the heel], but there will need to be much more healing along the front of the hoof," Richardson said in an update issued by the University of Pennsylvania's George D. Widener Hospital.
Doctors removed 80 per cent of the hoof in mid-July when Barbaro developed laminitis, a painful and often fatal disease brought on by excessive weight bearing on one leg due to the injury of another leg.
Richardson, chief of surgery at the hospital, also had a chance to get a close-up look at Barbaro's right hind leg.
"I was pleased with the continued progression of healing and the overall condition of this leg," Richardson said.

Winston is now a Toddler - Happy 1st Birthday !!!

Winston turned 1 year old last week and is now a proud toddler ! The family and I celebrated Winston's 1st Birthday this weekend and it was so fun. I still cannot believe the little guy is already a year old. He is so smart and I must say, well behaved, thanks to my parents hard work and dedication. Winston spent one last weekend of the season running around outside at the cottage, chasing chipmunks, eating sticks and sleeping in the sunshine. My parents are returning to Florida later this month and will be taking the little tike with them. I am going to miss him so much but can't wait to see him again at Christmas, when he will be running around on the beach chasing who knows what. All I can say is what a great fall weekend at the cottage with the whole family.

Home Made Cookies for Winston

So this past weekend, my family and I not only celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving but we also celebrated my Dad's Birthday and Winston's 1st Birthday!! It was a weekend of huge celebration. In the spirit of my Dad's and Winston's Birthdays I decided to bake them each some home made cookies. My Dad loves cookies and so does the little guy so I could not go wrong. Here is a picture of the proud father giving the even more proud pup a taste of home made goodness. I baked the home made dog cookies with cheese and garlic, a dog's dream !! My Dad's cookies consisted of chocolate and pecans, my Dad's favorite ! Overall, both were very pleased with the home made gifts and I was happy that they were happy.

Prison Break Season Two - Returns October 23

OK Prison Break Fans, Season Two returns to Fox on October 23 so we have to wait three weeks to see what is going to happen to the Fox River gang. All I can say is What is Sucre thinking ? Speaking of my friends wedding this past weekend, here is a fairly good picture of the bride and groom. They have been together for quite some time and make a beautiful couple. The wedding ceremony was performed in both English and Korean. A truely honourable and eventful wedding.
